Who are you?

MY name is Aidan Gallacher, I grew up just outside Glasgow before studying in Stirling, working in London, then the Middle East before returning to Partick (best of the lot).

My journey started with a London management company where I was responsible for projects and events for global brands such as Coca-Cola, Nokia, Castrol, Boris Becker and Inter Milan.

I joined Scottish Sports Futures, where I took a lead role in establishing Active East, a programme to build a legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games for young people in the East of Glasgow.

During 2013 I established Agile with a view to working with a range of clients to utilise sport as a tool to achieve a variety of outcomes.

What does your business do?

Agile works with clients to develop and deliver sports projects and events. The 'sport' description is a bit limiting, we specialise in all things active, with the tag line being Projects That Move.

Where are you based?

In the Hub in Pacific Quay, Glasgow.

How did you get started?

I was nearing the end of a contract. I had always felt that there was a place for a more flexible resource in the sports sector.

The Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup were round the corner, so it seemed like the right time to go for it.

What is your top tip?

Work out what the first step is in your plan and focus on making it happen.

Don't be scared to change the plan as you progress and keep speaking to people - it is amazing where you pick up wee gems of wisdom or a contact.

How long has your business been running?

Since June 2013.

Has anyone helped you get started and how?

My family has been a massive help. My parents have always been there to listen to my ramblings and my uncle, who has had a career in international business management, is the company secretary and general mentor.

What was your first deal?

A project development contract with an old boss.

What was your biggest mistake, or what would you do differently?

Unsure. Ask me in a year!

Who was/is your mentor or inspiration?

My parents have been an amazing support and, in business, my uncle has provided a huge amount of guidance, often while running or cycling.

The businesses I share the DEG space with have also been a real inspiration.

Where do you plan your business to be in five years time?

The aspiration is for the company to become the lead provider of online sports solutions for the UK - may as well make it the world.
