Here is the latest in our series of blogs by Glasgow students.

Last week I got the chance to relive my childhood in the best way I could possibly imagine. 90s pop band S Club 7 arrived in Glasgow and to say I was excited would be an understatement. I remember that day, when I was 8 years old. I was sitting on my bed, bopping along to an S Club song on the radio and playing with my Barbie's- like every other 8-year-old girl I'm sure. Suddenly the song came to an end and the Radio DJ's voice was loud and clear, "And so it was announced earlier today that S Club 7 are no more and the band are due to take a break from their careers." The look on my face was priceless. Looking back now I laugh about what happened next but at the time it felt like my whole world had come crashing down and life would never be the same again. I began to sob uncontrollably into my pillow and I could hear my mum's footsteps bounding up the stairs: "What's wrong dear?" I couldn't even get a sentence out I was sobbing that hard so I resulted to picking up one of my S Club albums and then throwing it on the floor. I think my mother got the gist. I think it's now clear why I was so excited that the band had announced a greatest hits tour. My friends Clare, Ruth and I had the full day planned out. Nowadays, it's not accustomed to just go straight to a concert. Oh no. The day starts with a late lunch followed by some cocktails at several of Glasgow's popular bars. That is exactly what we done. A lovely Italian meal started off the day deciding that we wouldn't eat too much as we wanted to leave room for the alcohol. Then in the blink of an eye the three of us had polished off three courses. Oh well. By the time we got to the Hydro we had guzzled a good couple of cocktails and a bottle of rose, and then of course headed straight to the bar for a refreshing fruity cider. As I looked around all I could see was masses of girls the same age as me, obviously the ones that had also cried into their pillows when they had announced S Club were no more. The night was rounded off with a good dance and sing song- with the occasional funny look from Ruth and Clare as my singing was clearly way too loud. You just don't get cheese like that nowadays. I say bring all the 90s bands back! It would give me the perfect chance to have a lovely day out and remember those simpler times as the only time I get to listen to music now is in my car on my way to work. I have always got my S Club 7 greatest hits CD blasting though.
