Here is the latest in our series of blogs by Glasgow students.

Amy McDonald is a journalism student at Glasgow Caledonian University, lover of rose wine and a bit of a drama queen.

When you ask someone to describe a student I'm sure there is a selection of thoughts that come to mind. I can tell you right now, I will not fit into any of these clichés. For one I still live at home. The thought of moving out into a dingy, freezing cold student flat was very unappealing. "But you don't have to follow any rules and you can do whatever you like" is usually what uni friends of mine who decided to take the plunge into living alone will often say to me. My answer...do they get their clothes washed and dinner on the table every day? No. Can they blast their heating up to max on a cold winter's night with no fear of how much it's going to cost? I think not. I cannot understand why most students are so determined to live the 'student life'. Frankly I'm getting far too old to stand in a club with my vodka and lemonade in a plastic cup while crowds of angry youngsters fight to get to the bar screaming "SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS." No thanks. You'll find me in a nice cocktail bar, maybe on a Sunday afternoon when the pianist plays; sipping on a French Martini- and of course I'll have plonked myself on one of the comfy couches. When I first started university I used to beat myself up about not going out every Thursday night or heading straight home after class instead of going to the union for spontaneous afternoon drinks. I like organisation and routine. If a night out is not planned weeks in advance, don't expect me to show face. After about two years I decided to forget about what a 'typical student' should be doing and just do what I wanted to do. I always have to make it home for dinner on a Monday as its homemade soup night. To be honest, I would much rather be sitting in my cosy house with my mum's soup on my lap than wandering round my student flat trying to find a big enough oven tray to fit my fish fingers on to. So, after a lot of thought and deliberation I have decided, I'm the 'anti student'. And I intend to embrace it. I will never want to join societies and get involved with university life any more than I have to. I will be getting my degree and that's that! I will continue my social affairs in cocktails bars, go to the gym on a Saturday night instead of hitting the clubs, and most importantly- always make it home for homemade soup on a Monday. I am the anti student after all.
