Posing for the camera is never usually a problem for Sophia.

Since the day she was born she's been used to either myself or my wife snapping a quick picture of her on our smartphone or camera.

She even used to pose for the camera!

Now that she won't keep still after finding her feet, grabbing that picture perfect moment is now tricky.

With that in mind I thought I'd pay a visit to some of my expert colleagues from the Evening Times' picture desk.

They were capturing the smiles - and frowns - of Glasgow's youngsters as part of this year's Times Tots competition at Glasgow's St Enoch Centre.

I had been told they would see if they could spare a couple of minutes to take a picture of Sophia at some point that afternoon.

Sophia had been in a great mood all day, running about the house, before we ventured into the city centre.

When we arrived at the mall, it was clear to see that Times Tots was as popular as ever with dozens of parents milling about with their prams as they waited to have pictures taken.

I decided to take Sophia for a quick bite to eat and return later.

My little one isn't a huge fan of set nap times and, of course, she decided to take one after her lunch just as I was popping in for her first photoshoot.

With time marching on, I made the mistake of disturbing Sophia from a rare sleep. This did not go down well, and ensured she was not in the mood for getting her picture taken by a stranger.

I thought, however, I would be able to cheer her up and sat her down in front of patient Evening Times photographer Nick Ponty.

Toys were rolled out in a quest for a smile but my sleepy buddha wasn't having it.

Kind efforts from my colleagues who were helping out at the Times Tots event also failed to cheer the usual happy soul up.

One last attempt of tickling her and a spin round managed a slight grin and quick picture, before I decided it was time to go.

A vital lesson for me...don't wake sleeping beauty!
