This week, kiss and Meat Up at Burger Meats Bun, meeting The Real Hoosewives fae Glesga and breakfast perfection at Paper Cup.

Meat Up @ Burger Meats Bun

I recently broke up with burgers. It wasn't that I didn't love them anymore, but after spending too much time together (for my burger challenge last month) I thought we were better off as friends. However, as this is Valentines week, it seemed like the perfect time to kiss and meat up.

Launched at the end of last year, the monthly Meat Up is a fantastic idea from the guys at Burger Meats Bun to create special, one off events where they collaborate with well-kent chefs, local businesses and suppliers. It's basically a meaty takeover.

This week, it was the turn of Glasgow boy Graeme Cheevers to take over the grill. Currently the head chef at the Michelin-starred Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond, Graeme certainly has some beefy credentials. So, what did his menu look like? To kick things off there was Chicharon (pork scratchings) with Mustard Mayo as a bar snack, followed by Chicken Liver 'Hot Dog' with Mushroom Jelly, then the main event of Cheevers Pork Bun with Sage Salted Chips, Sauerkraut Bacon Slaw and Fried Pickles. Our pudding was a homely Granny's Apple Pie with Caramel Ice Cream. Perfect burger slap-up supper with a decent helping of ooh er fancy on the side.

It's a great fun event and I can think of nothing more I'd like to do on a chilly Monday night. The 'Hot Dog' starter was really special and the dessert was a treat. If I'm honest though, whilst Graeme's burger was brilliant, I think Burger Meats Bun's own are better. It's a winning formula and, although it's fun to mix things up (especially when you add on drinks matching 'Hot Dogs' with the likes of Beetroot Gin and Tonic), I don't think you don't get a better bite of burger than the original BMB.

The next Meat Up is on March 2 - tickets are around £25 for three courses, £15 extra for drinks matching. For exclusive invites, sign up to Burger Meats Bun's newsletter on their website.

The Real Hoosewives fae Glesga @ The Pavilion

This week, I went to the Pavilion with some pals. When we got there I wondered what exactly we were going to see; by the dangerously excited looks of the entirely female crowd it could have been the Chippendales! In fact, we were there to see smash hit production The Real Hoosewives fae Glesga.

The production has been a sell out (as was it's earlier run in 2014) and extra dates were added this week to cope with demand. It's only rival, in the box office stakes, is Brendan O'Carroll's Mrs Brown, which just shows how big this show has become.

The storyline isn't really the most important part of this production - because the real story is about friendship - but the basic idea is that when five Glesga lassies (the posh wan, the tarty wan, the daft wan, the horny wan and the drunk wan) find out that an American producer is in town and looking to cast for a new reality TV series - The Real Hoosewives fae Glesga - there's nothing that will stop them looking for their 15 minutes.

It's a riot. From start to finish. It's a wee bit X Factor, a little TOWIE, a touch Variety, with a dash of panto; a recipe as warming and delightful as a nice glass of Baileys. Frankly, I thought it was much better than seeing the Chippendales!

Breakfast @ Paper Cup

I bought one of those fancy coffee machines at Christmas, mainly because George Clooney looked me in the eye and told me to. It's great for weekday mornings, when no one should see me before I've had my cuppa. However, weekends were meant for lazier things, so I'm always looking for new places to brunch and munch out on a Saturday.

Last weekend, I stumbled upon Paper Cup. It's an awkward little place, tucked away, like a secret caffeine haven on Great Western Road. Inside, it's ramshackle, feels half finished and so hipster the cups practically have moustaches. But don't let the 'I just woke up this way look' put you off. Or kid you on. This place is producing some of the finest cups of joe in the city. As well as some of the most delicious breakfasts. There's a great menu full of options, but what I really need to tell you about are their baked eggs.

One incredible pan, with all you could hope for in a morning: eggs over easy, tomato, cheese, spinach, chorizo (or mushrooms for the veggies), all sizzling on a roasting platter with homestyle bread on the side. It's breaky perfection.

The place is on the small side so you may have to wait for a table but the queue moves quickly, and frankly this is the kind of breakfast you would wait all night for!
