This week, before we get our ceilidh on to bring in the new year, here's some of my top moments from 2014.

The week between Christmas and New Year is a bit of a no man's land. A lost and empty place with wee bits of torn wrapping paper, blowing in the (Brussels sprouts) wind. In fact, the definition for 'no man's land's' is: a place unoccupied (or in dispute) between two parties. Aye, well, we've just had one great big party - Santa came, I ate too much turkey - and there's a whopper of a shindig still to come - Hogmanay, ceilidhing and a whole New Year. So, on these lost days I think it's a good idea to have a wee look back on the year that was, before we get our dancing shoes on and cast it away at the bells. 2014 was a big year for Glasgow, Scotland and for me personally (I'm an old married lady now!) but with so many huge events, what will we remember most about the year that was? In the manner of counting down to the bells, here are the moments of 2014 that stand out for me… 10. The year started off with a good ring to it for me, after I got engaged in the first few minutes. Ding dong! 9. We welcomed a whole host of mega stars to The Hydro: Lady Gaga, Prince, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, The Eagles, Michael Bublé and er, Mc Busted! Yup, I was totally (mc)busted for having some dodgy musical tastes! 8. At eight, it's the Kiltwalk, when 6,000 Glaswegians and pals kilted up and put their best foot forward walking from the city to Loch Lomond for childrens charities. The only time there's an (acceptable) exception to the 'true Scot' rule: the chaffing would get you right in the sporran! 7. We had one Big Weekend back in May when BBC Radio 1's annual music festival set up camp on Glasgow Green. Meaning we could enjoy the T in the Park vibe without pitching a single tent (or missing a single shower!): now that's my kind of festival! 6. Sneaking in at six - so perhaps a wee bit above par - 2014 was the homecoming of golf and the 40th Ryder Cup. A 'hole'-some Team Europe had Team America like putt-y in their hands… and I discovered a love of golf puns! 5. In September we saw the all important Independence Referendum. However, in counting down the numbers of 2014 - when it comes to politics - I'm only going to focus on one. This year we welcomed the first ever female First Minister to the fore. Hiya Nicola Sturgeon! 4. Glasgow also said hello to the MTV EMAs for the first time, but the awards show sparked controversy with a lack of any hoo-haa! 3. The last few moments, as we get close to 2015, have to be from my favourite part of the year: the Commonwealth Games. So in third, it's 13-year-old Shetland lass Erraid Davies winning a bronze medal: the youngest ever Games competitor to do so. And, then, celebrating with an Irn Bru! 2. As we near the bells, the cheers get louder but nothing will compare to the sound of the crowds during The Games; from hollering O' Flower of Scotland to shouting for the stragglers at the back, the warmth of the folk of Glasgow could be heard, right around the Commonwealth. 1. And before we say 'See Ya' to 2014, there's time for one last golden moment and, for me, that would have to be Ross Murdoch winning Gold in the 200m breaststroke. Well, his win… and his wee face! That pals was absolutely priceless! So, that was 2014 and I think you'll have to admit it was a bit of a stonker, but come on 2015, let's be having you!

Wee Bird Recommends Wee haven't quite had our fill over Christmas (only us, or does Christmas just make you more hungry?!) so this weekend Wee will definitely be checking out new Finnieston opening Porter and Rye; from the folk behind Lebowskis, Finnieston and The Crafty Pig. They say 'molecular dining and small dishes'. Wee say yum!
