I've kind of had my fill of all things political.

I'm guessing that I'm not the only one. However I can't not mention it but I'll make it quick!

We were over the moon at last week's election tsunami in Scotland. The results were incredible. The positivity of Nicola Sturgeon stood in stark contrast with the negativity and mixed message of Jim Murphy and Scottish Labour. The anti-austerity and anti-Trident messages were consistent and clear. The shine of the historic vote against austerity here was, however, considerably tarnished by the unfortunate victory for the Tories in England. Even if the whole of Scotland had voted Labour instead of SNP we would still have been saddled with an uncaring Tory government. There is something not right with that reality.

Now, I'm not in the slightest bit interested in David Cameron's new cabinet but true to form, there they were. The usual suspects on parade like former banker Sajid Javid as newly appointed Business Secretary. Then there's that big buffoon Boris Johnston. Has he not got enough to do as Mayor of London? Wonder if that's another pay packet?

Mind you a good Tory story of the election was surely that former Employment Minister Esther McVey lost her seat. She's been replaced in the cabinet by the interestingly named Priti Patel. Although I wouldn't hold out any hope of her revealing any 'pretty' employment policies in the foreseeable future.

The Labour party are licking their deep wounds but at least they had a wee bit of good news yesterday. Yes Lord Sugar has resigned from the party. Aww, shame eh? He said that the negative business policies and the general anti-enterprise concepts had made him lose confidence in the party. Given that it was the last Labour government who awarded him his title in the House of 'sleepy-people' sorry...Lords Does he resign from there too? Won't hold my breath waiting on that…..

Right that's enough politics! On Friday Tommy and I were invited to countless post-election parties. We couldn't go as he has to study for his final law exams which he has this week and we had my wee niece's First Holy communion on Saturday morning. So, no partying for us. We did have a wonderful day at my sister Gillian's house on Saturday where all our family and many of our friends joined us in celebration.

I especially loved it when Abigail thanked me for her Communion cake and everyone thought that meant I had baked it - I hadn't, I bought it but what the hell I've watched loads of those Great British Bake Off's so surely that entitles me to be a Mary Berry for the day!

Errol Brown, frontman of the 70s/80s soul and funk band Hot Chocolate, died last week aged 71. Many years ago he was singing at a private function in Glasgow and came on board my flight. I was able to serve him and have a wee gab as well.

He was a lovely big guy. Not at all full of it…just a real gentleman with THE most deep sexy voice just the way he sang. When I got home that night and told Tommy he immediately started his pathetic rendition of 'You Sexy Thing'. He was, unfortunately, more Ovaltine than Hot Chocolate! Rest In Peace Errol.
