I hate elections. You'd imagine that I'd be psyched up for all the hype that goes with a political election given that I've been involved with every kind of election you can imagine from General to council elections to Scottish Parliament and European elections.

My dear old husband has stood in them all. Even I have had my fair share of being on the ballot paper. On three occasions I have been a candidate for council seats. In fact that's probably why I can't stand the thought of the whole campaigning circus coming to town.

The recent referendum campaign scunnered me and I really could have been doing with a longer respite from the campaign trail - but its back!

Tommy is already booked to speak at meetings around the country before the May 7 General Election. Of course he's in his element but there are a few who'll not be as chuffed.

The battle for UK seats means that those MPs who enjoy swanning about London and frequenting subsidised Westminster bars will be made to return to their constituencies to push for votes.

In fact, it is said that Labour leader Jim Murphy has told his 40 Scottish MPs to leave Westminster and return 'now' to fight for their seats. And so it all begins in earnest, the back stabbing and the gaffes, the photo opportunities and the kissing of babies.

Party leaders will be omnipresent on TV screens. They will have to be top of their game. Ed Milliband got angry yesterday whilst involved in a question and answer session.

The Chairman of Boots Stefano Pessina had commented that Milliband's plans for Britain were not helpful for business, the country or the people.

Ed answered this criticism by saying that the British public should not be told how to vote by someone who avoids paying his taxes and that nothing annoyed him more than tax avoidance and big companies.

I hope that doesn't come back to bite Ed on the bum. I trust there are no tax dodgers who donate to the Labour party.

Funny how the poor are labelled scum and scroungers whenever taxes are unpaid or benefits overpaid but the rich and powerful get to pick and choose which taxes they pay and still get knighthoods and other baubles bestowed upon them regardless.

Handsome footballers stripping off - disgraceful!

What's with this new trend by footballers of taking off their football tops and baring their torsos? Bloody disgraceful!

We had the English premierships' Southampton player Dusan Tadic stripping off and showing his muscles. Shocking!

Then Celtic's Scott Brown and Emilio Izaguirre casting off their strip and giving it away to fans after the game on Sunday. It's an absolute scandal!

I'll be carefully watching out for any more of this outrageous behaviour especially from that other big gorgeous Southampton player, Graziano Pelle, just in case he decides to involve himself in any of these shenanigans. Hope springs eternal.

On best behaviour tomorrow

Tomorrow I'm meeting up with my two old school pals Joe and David. I have mentioned before about this outing and how Tommy doesn't get an invite even although we all went to Lourdes Secondary together.

I figure he'd hinder our fun given that he is mister boring tee-total. The last two times we have met up has resulted in severe sore heads the next day. So I've been warned by my boring husband and no doubt Lorraine and Trish (the wives of my two auld muckers) to act sensibly and remember that we are not the teenagers we once were…Really?
