DID you stay up and watch the Oscars on Sunday night?

If you did you are probably still suffering from sleep deprivation four days later, because I certainly am, but boy was it worth it.

The glitz, the glamour and those fantastically wild outfits on the red carpet that make you shout out loud, "what on earth were you thinking?"

Ever since I was a little girl the Oscars have been my idea of a fairy tale event which is quite apt as I only found out that today is actually

officially, Tell a Fairy Tale Day.

No, I promise I haven't just lost my mind and made that up and if you don't believe me go online and see for yourself.

It's an absolute fact that in the bonkers world we live in today someone somewhere decided to dedicate a specific day to tell fairy

tales.

I thought about inventing my very own fairy tale about a beautiful, intelligent, hilarious, talented girl called Michelle who could stuff her face with endless amounts of food and drink and never put on a single pound (oh come on it's my fairy tale after all).

And who lived in a huge mansion up the west end of Glasgow complete with a live in chef whose speciality was chips and cheese at 3am when she came home from all the fabulous events she'd attended

that night.

She also lived in a world where all the men looked like Colin Firth in Pride and Prejudice and when a guy said he would call you that didn't mean five weeks later when you had been through every emotion under the sun pacing the floors asking everyone including God himself why this had happened as you thought things were going so great?

I actually had a friend who once suggested that perhaps a seagull had stolen the phone from the man she was seeing and that's why she hadn't heard from him in a few weeks, honestly God bless the thought process of a single women on the edge.

I should also point out that today is also officially national Chilli Day so if you're stuck on what to make for tonight's dinner then problem

solved.

Sadly for me I haven't eaten Chilli since 2010 after I made the catastrophic error of coming home rather tipsy one evening starving and thought it would be a great idea to take the pot of Chilli I'd made early that evening to bed with me.

When I woke in the morning I found a Chilli stained soup ladle under my arm and my bed looked like a scene from CSI Shawlands.

I'm also utterly ashamed to admit I found a Chilli bean up my nose, which I won't lie was a real low point for me as it could have only got there as I result of me diving head first into the overflowing pot.

Anyway, as I said, enjoy your Chilli tonight.

Back to the Oscars, though I was delighted to see British actor Eddie Redmayne win best actor, The Theory of Everything is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen and his portrayal of Dr Stephen Hawking was simply superb.

I must mention Felicity Jones, who played his wife Jane in the movie, who was also tremendous in her role.

Sadly Felicity lost out to Julianne Moore in the best actress category and yes she is absolutely Scottish because she mentioned her Scottish

family roots in her Bafta speech a few weeks ago so we've now changed her nationality automatically and claimed her good and proper.

The most hilarious part of the ceremony had to be when John Travolta was doing his best Gollum impression on Idina Menzel stroking her face like it was the one true ring and I'm sure I heard him mutter my precious under his breath.

Yep, in my fairytale world the man in my life would be Mr Darcy but in reality it's a John Travolta type chatting me up in a pub on a Friday night with one eye opened and clinging on to the bar top for dear life.
