They say it's the most wonderful time of the year but unfortunately not for me over the last few days.

It all began on Sunday night when I came home after two Panto shows during which I burst out of my pirate skirt and somehow managed to cling on to it for dear life until I made it safely off stage (people of Glasgow who were there that evening you're welcome).

I had watched a wee boy in the front row of the matinee performance constantly mouth the words to me, "you make me sick" while pretending to stick his fingers down his throat, the little darling.

I had been dreaming of getting home and curling up on my sofa, Christmas tree

twinkling, fire roaring and a lovely big goblet of piping hot mulled wine in hand as I watched the movie Elf but alas my dream chilled evening was not to be.

Instead I arrived at my flat, walked into my kitchen, flicked on the light switch which was followed by a huge bang and then darkness.

Turns out the dimmer switch my dad had so kindly fitted for me the day before had blown not just my kitchen spotlights but the entire electrics in the house.

Now I live in a tenement flat in Shawlands with the big high ceilings so at 5ft 3inchs I can't even change a light bulb in my house never mind reach the electric meter above my hall cupboard and it doesn't help that my little stepladders wouldn't look out of place in The Shire with Frodo and his hobbit friends and are therefore as much use as an ashtray in a motor bike.

I had to go to bed in darkness although not before I attempted to eat the entire contents of my fridge and freezer under the pretence of, "well it's a sin to let good food go to waste," excuse which leads me nicely onto my next drama.

During panto rehearsals I lost 11lbs in weight which I was well chuffed about and every year I always lose a further 18 to 20lbs during the seven week run which I

refer to as my Christmas miracle but something has went drastically wrong this year because I weighed myself on Monday and I've actually gained 4lbs.

Now I could kid you all on and say I have no idea how this has happened because with two shows a day I barely have time to eat but that would be untrue because I've certainly managed to find plenty of time to eat and it's the stopping I'm having problems with.

I'm just constantly starving at the moment which I suppose solves the Agatha Christie mystery of the popping skirt buttons on stage in front of 1,300 people but that hasn't stopped me.

It doesn't help that my panto partner in crime, Heart Breakfast Show host Cat Harvey left an M&S Christmas Food brochure lying about which she

had to eventually bin after she found me in a Gollum like trance in our dressing room staring at it and calling it 'My Precious' in a wee creepy voice.

I personally have decided to blame the weather which ties up my disastrous week nicely because the question on everyone's lips has been, "What's the ruddy 'ell is happening out there?"

I decided to treat and cheer myself up in between shows on Tuesday afternoon and went round to lovely Taylor Ferguson Hair Salon on Bath Street and after a few hours came out looking all glam with my new shiny blonde bob cut.

Fast forward four minutes later and I entered the theatre looking like I'd just completed an ice bucket challenge with a JCB.

It's the first time in my adult life that I've actually been soaked through to my birthday suit and had to completely change everything I had on my back.

So you see dear friends it's not been the best of weeks and I'm in dire need of some

Christmas cheering up.

I think I'll write my letter to Santa as that always brighten my day when I was a wee girl.

This year I'm going to ask for a big hunky electrician serving me M&S nibbles under a palm tree in the Caribbean.

You know, I actually feel better already.

Happy Birthday to my darling little sister Lynsey who's turning 33-years-old on Saturday.

You've been my best friend my whole life even when you took a permanent marker to our bunk beds to declare your love for your future husband Mark Owen during the Take That obsessed years.

Love you so much and hope you have a fantastic day.
