I won't lie, I thought I would have been higher up the queue of potential mothers for multi millionaire Simon's heir given that I spent 12 weeks with him on Pop Idol, which, let's face it, is a lifetime in the showbiz world.
But alas it wasn't to be.
Most celebs try and keep their pregnancy news under wraps for as long as possible. Remember Mariah Carey?
She was hounded by the press to confirm her pregnancy in 2010 and simply refused until it actually came within weeks of her giving birth to twins in the Spring of 2011.
Although not everyone wants to remain tight- lipped about the imminent patter of tiny feet, as just this week Tom Fletcher from the band McFly announced that he and his wife were expecting their first child by posting a video online with the news carved into two pumpkins.
Very sweet, although anyone who was a fan of STV's The Hour will know I had a horrific experience carving pumpkins for Halloween live on the show with the lovely Des McLean back in 2009 and I'm still in therapy for now four years later.
So with all of this talk of pregnancy I thought this would be the perfect time for me to share some baby news with you - no, men of the world, fear not I'm still young, free, single and baby less for now ... but my darling sister and her husband Christopher are expecting their first child early 2014 and all the family are on cloud nine. Laura is the first of us McManus girls to have a baby and therefore this is my parents' first grandchild.
I secretly filmed the moment my mum and dad were told the happy news back in July and their reaction was absolutely priceless ... so much so that I've posted the actual video on the Evening Times website for you to have a look at and see the future Granny and Granda McManus in action.
This poor wee baby doesn't know what it's letting itself in for but I'll tell you right now it couldn't be loved anymore than if it's mother was a global diva responsible for the best Christmas song ever or if it's father wore his trousers so high the waist band sat just below his chest.
Congratulation Laura and Christopher.
And Laura, just a wee word of advice.
I wouldn't bother watching shows like Channel 4's One Born Every Minute as I've heard from other mothers that the 'blissfully unaware of what's actually involved when it comes to giving birth' is always the best approach.
