FORGET November 5 - I've recently discovered that the old saying should in fact be 'remember, remember the 6th November'.

The reason being that today is officially National Saxophone Day, Men Make Dinner Day and Nachos Day for a whole glorious 24 hours so I'm thinking this might actually be the most important day of the entire year.

Okay maybe not, but now the sparklers have well and truly fizzled out and Guy Fawkes Night is done and dusted for another year, it is now perfectly legal in my book to start mentioning the dreaded C word.

No I don't mean Cheryl and Saturday night's Mimegate on X Factor - although granted I didn't see her performance but I read the backlash on social media which is always completely accurate, right?

No, I am, of course, talking about sleigh bells ringing and carol singing for it's the most wonderful time of the year.

Yes, you guessed it and with only 48 days to go, I am, of course, talking about Christmas.

Now I know some of you may have just thrown your paper in the air exclaiming "aw no way" but it's happening people, so we may as well just embrace it.

I've downloaded one of those countdown apps for my phone and set it for December 25.

To be fair I had originally downloaded it for Sober October but after three days of staring at it solidly while crying into my diet coke, I thought it was best for my mental health just to delete it.

Why I even need a Christmas countdown I don't know as I'm delighted to say that once again I will be performing at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow during panto season -and this year it's the swashbuckling adventure Treasure Island.

The theatre has outdone itself with an unbelievable all-star cast for the shows, including fans favourite Johnny "I'm enjoying myself" Mac, River City stars Stephen Purdon, Gary Lamont, Leah McCrae and James McAnerney, and Waterloo Road actress Holly Jack.

We are joined by star of CBBC series The Raven James MacKenzie, Gregory's Girl and Celts in Seville's Douglas Sann-achan, Fife singing sen-sation Clarke Stewart and my pal and partner in crime this year the fabulous Cat Harvey from the Heart FM Breakfast Show.

We all start rehearsals on Monday and I don't think I've been this excited since my local pub decided to start stocking Cloudy Bay wine.

I've just finished reading the script and it's absolutely hilarious so for the many thousands of you who have already bought your tickets, you are in for a real treat.

Not to give anything away but fans of the Disney smash hit movie Frozen will be singing along at the top of their voices - I guarantee it.

SO as I get set to board my Christmas panto roller coaster next week I have half considered breaking tradition by putting my Christmas tree up in November too.

I never get to really enjoy it otherwise, as I'm never at home in December - but maybe that is going a step too far.

Maybe instead I'll just embrace the 6th of November and put Kenny Gs greatest hits on full blast while munching a massive big bowl of nachos and I'll somehow convince myself that George Clooney made them for me.

Yes, that sounds a lot more sane than putting a Christmas tree up in November.

IF you are a fan of comedy then you must tune into BBC Scotlands latest hilarious offering Scot Squad.

It's a spoof documentary following the exploits of a fictional Scottish Police Force which is part improvised part scripted. Having watched the first two episodes I can honestly say it's the funniest thing I've watched in years with genuine laugh out loud moments where you need to pause and rewind just to make sure you heard it correctly.

With a fantastic cast of seriously talented comedians and actors this series is surely destined for big things to come.

You can catch the next episode of Scot Squad on Monday at 10.35pm on BBC One Scotland and you can also catch up with the series at www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer
