BAD days call for chocolate.

Those are the rules.

When your patience is tested to the limit, only sweet cocoa and a cup of tea will do.

To be honest, though, good days also mean chocolate.

Chocolate is delicious. I feel sorry for the famous people who spend their days on a strict diet and never scoff a bag of Buttons.

They may be a size six, and able to wear any clothes they want, but they do not have the joy of chocolate.

So, you see, I'm a chocolate enthusiast. I have a sweet tooth. I love white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate.

I love gooey oozing puddings, choc chips all over my ice cream and I even love a bowl of Coco Pops.

At Christmas I love chocolate coins and cheap advent calendar treats.

At Easter (January counts, right?) I love Creme Eggs. But wait. Someone has gone and changed the recipe.

Cadbury's Creme Egg, has replaced the Dairy Milk shell with a "standard" cocoa mix.

This upsets me, along with many others. Why do this?

Have they never heard the saying: if it ain't broke don't fix it?

Us Brits don't like change. We like our eggs how we like our eggs - covered in Dairy Milk chocolate with a squidgy fondant middle.

The brand defended their move saying they tested the new recipe on consumers who found the 2015 mix to be the favourite.

A spokesman added: "The Creme Egg has never been called Cadbury's Dairy Milk Creme Egg.

"We have never played on the fact that Dairy Milk was used."

That's us told then.

However, the plot thickens. The recipe change is not the only difference this year.

My mum reported to me over the phone last night that the eggs are being sold in boxes of five, instead of six.

It's the scandal of the century!

The last time I recall being this shocked over sweets was when Opal Fruits changed the name to Starburst in a pointless marketing move.

Still, altering the recipe is a whole different ball game.

So for the sake of Evening Times readers I conducted a taste test. I bought one Creme Egg and gobbled it down.

It was...egg-quisite.

Given that it's been a year since I last ate one I have to admit I found it hard to notice the difference.

But I trust my fellow chocolate lovers out there - if they detect a difference for the worst they should stand up for their beliefs.

Those cocoa connoisseurs should follow their heart and reject the new recipe.

And if they're eating less this year, I suppose that means there will be all the more Creme Eggs for me.

The yolk's on you...
