3 Lord James Douglas-Hamilton: The son of the Duke of Hamilton was a Treasury Lord.
4 George Younger: Born in Gargunnock, Stirlingshire, he served as Scottish Secretary then Defence Secretary.
5 Malcolm Rifkind: Scottish Secretary for four years under Thatcher.
6 Michael Forsyth: The Stirling MP spent several years in charge at the Scottish Office.
7 Ian Lang: A Government whip and secretary of state in the Scottish and Environment departments.
8 Lord Strathclyde: Thomas Galbraith, from Glasgow, was an under-secretary of state for Environment.
9 Lord Caithness: Served as a Government Whip in the first two Thatcher terms.
10 David MacLean: Born in Fortrose, he served in the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
