WELL, Glasgow, you have done it again so step forward and take a well-deserved bow.

The city has been bustling with major events over the past few weeks bringing with them thousands of visitors who have all left raving about how wonderful the city and its people are.

First up were MTV's EMAs at the SSE Hydro which was such a success global songstress Alicia Keys, right, who is pregnant, dedicated her online blog this week to the people of Glasgow saying: "I arrived a few days early to really settle into the energy of Glasgow and to make sure the baby and I got the proper rest.

"I discovered a city that may be small in proximity but has no shortage of heart, love and enthusiasm. The people here are incredible. Everywhere I went, I felt like I was in a room full of friends."

Praise indeed from a woman who has performed all around the world.

Next up, the red carpet was rolled out on Sunday night as the Scottish Baftas came to town.

A-list stars such as James McAvoy and David Tennant were among the guests attending the ceremony and it was especially lovely to see the Queen of daytime telly and host of the STV Appeal Lorraine Kelly receive an Outstanding Contribution to Television award honouring a glittering 30-year career.

I also have to give a special mention to my dear friend Mr Jimmy Chisholm and all the cast and crew of the BBC comedy Miller's Mountain for their win.

Jimmy is undoubtedly one of Scotland's finest actors and after spending almost 11 weeks in panto with him back in 2012, I can gladly confirm that he is one of the loveliest guys you'll meet.

He certainly knows how to party but, fear not, Jimmy, as the old saying goes: 'What happens during panto says in panto,' or until I write my tell-all book - and what a corker that will be.

Finally, I've got to mention the two Scotland games at Celtic Park.

I was extremely moved with the respect shown by both Scotland and England fans during the minute's applause for Nathan McSeveny who tragically lost his life when leaving the game against Ireland on Friday.

I'm sure I speak for all when I say that thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I was at both games as I was lucky enough to host a Q&A with former Scotland Players before kick-off in corporate hospitality.

Tosh McKinlay, Tom Boyd, Tom Forsyth and Frank McAvennie all took to the stage to share their experiences playing for their country and the boys were on top form. It was a pleasure to talk to them all and you could just feel the love and respect in the room for these guys, as they had been there done it and had, literally, worn the T-shirt.

Yes, Glasgow, once again you fired the ball into the back of the net, something we wish Scotland could have done more against the Auld Enemy on Tuesday night but, hey, you can't win them all.

It's just been another unbelievable advertisement for Glasgow and more importantly for you, the people who make this city great. Thank you for again showing the world why we're so proud to call it home.

THE Wedding Singer, starring Adam Sandler, is not only one of the biggest comedy hit movies ever but it's also a smash hit Broadway Musical.

So I'm excited to say that the show, which has won five Tony awards, is right here in Scotland at the Airdrie Town Hall for the next two nights.

The Monklands Light Opera company are celebrating their 41st anniversary in style with this fantastic production, and there are now only a few remaining tickets left for the final two performances.

If you love a good old eighties sing-song then this show starring the talented Chris Scougal is absolutely for you.
