1 Aircraft carrier:
A full-size warship with the capacity for carrying and deploying aircraft.
2 Destroyer: Armed and fast vessels whose job is to escort and protect larger ships.
3 Cruiser: Generally larger and more power- ful than destroyers and often larger than battleships.
4 Battleship: The most powerful warship with a battery containing heavy-duty guns.
5 Frigate: Used to protect larger vessels, which can include submarines.
6 Gunboat: A smaller ship which has a gun and is used for bombarding coastal targets.
7 Minesweeper: It does as it says, uses mechanisms to keep the water clear of enemy mines.
8 Corvette: A lightly-armed warship, generally smaller than a frigate.
9 Dreadnought: Massive battleships that were used in the early 20th Century, especially by the UK and Germany
10 Submarine: A vessel capable of operating while submerged.
