Paddle steamer named after a character in Walter Scott's Heart of Midlothian, she was scrapped in 1964.

2 The Duchess of Montrose: Large sleek turbine steamer, sister ship of the Duchess of Hamilton.

3 Caledonia: Paddle steamer, became a pub on the Thames before being destroyed by fire.

4 Maid of Argyll: One of four Maid-class vessels, the others being Skelmorlie, Ashton and Cumbrae.

5 Talisman: She was the first diesel-electric paddle-driven vessel in the world.

6 Queen Mary ll: One of the largest Clyde steamers, she is now lying derelict in Tilbury docks.

7 Countess of Breadalbane: A small boat, she later became Countess Fiona, but was scrapped in 1999.

8 Glen Sannox: A car ferry, she mostly served on the Ardrossan to Brodick route.

9 Ashton and Leven: The small vessels were built for the Empire Exhibition in Glasgow in 1938.

10 King George V: The large turbine steamer split her time between the Clyde and the Oban route.
