1 Talisker:
The only distillery on the Isle of Skye, situated on the shores of Loch Harport.
2 Lagavulin: With a rich and peaty flavour, it is one of several malts distilled on Islay.
3 Bruichladdich:
Another Islay malt, now part of the Remy Cointreau empire.
4 Laphroaig: Also distilled on Islay, it has a fearsome reputation as hard and peaty.
5 Ledaig: From Tobermory, on Mull, it is a sweet, smoky tipple.
6 Macallan: The favourite of James Bond, it is produced in the heart of Speyside whisky country.
7 Old Pulteney: Made in Wick, the 'maritime malt' is said to have a "nose" of apples and spices with the salt of the sea.
8 Glenlivet: A classic malt from Speyside, renowned for its light easy-to-drink quality.
9 Dalwhinnie: From the highest distillery in Scotland, the whisky has a distinct sherry flavour.
10 Caol Ila: The Islay malt is fruity with a hint of saltiness.
