Mulled wine:
Hot and spicy to restore the voice after a night of carol singing.
Punch: If you prefer your spiced wine cold, a big punch bowl is a welcome sight.
Egg nog: Delicious combination of eggs, cream and sugar is great for kids, but grown-ups can add a little rum or brandy.
Bailey's: Once you break a bottle of Bailey's open, you know the festive season is here.
Snowball: This retro treat, advocaat topped up with lemonade, needs a maraschino cherry to take it to the next level.
Buck's Fizz: Good orange juice mixed with cava is just the thing with a bacon roll while opening your presents.
Gluhwein: This traditional German take on mulled wine often has spirits added, too.
Port: The traditional accompaniment to that wedge of Stilton.
Sherry: Don't just save it for your maiden aunt, this is delicious with a dish of salted, mixed nuts.
Champagne: You don't have to break the bank, but it does make the turkey taste extra special.
