1 Hotspur:
Tottenham Hotspur took its name from English nobleman Henry Percy, known as Harry Hotspur.
2 North End: The Preston team is so called because the club moved to the north end of the town.
3 Orient: Leyton Orient is believed to have had a player who worked for the Orient Shipping Company.
4 Stanley: The club from Accrington merged with a team called Stanley Villa.
5 Villa: Birmingham club Aston Villa was founded by members of the Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel
6 Alexandra: The Crewe club was formed in 1877 and named after Princess Alexandra.
7 Dons: Milton Keynes team was born out of the old Wimbledon FC - known as The Dons.
8 Argyle: One possible reason for the name of the Plymouth club was the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
9 Wednesday: The Sheffield team was once a cricket club that played their matches on a Wednesday.
10 Forest: Named after Sherwood Forest on the outskirts of Nottingham.
