TOMORROW is a massive day for many Scots up and down the country and no, I'm not just talking about the referendum results, but the opening night of the eagerly awaited return of the Still Game gang as it kicks-off its mammoth sell-out run at the SSE Hydro.

The Craiglang residents and their hilarious goings on have become an institution in Scotland since they first burst on to our screens in 2002 and with more than 200,000 people set to see the live shows over the next month it's clear that their popularity has never been bigger or better.

I've spoken many times over the past few years about my delight at being given a small role in series six in an episode entitled Seconds Out.

I had met Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill while performing on Children in Need in 2006 and a few months later, there I was in the Clansman Pub with Winston, Isa and all the gang pinching myself to make sure it was really happening.

Between takes I, along with Scottish boxing legend Jim Watt, who was also guest star in the same episode, had filmed a series of backstage interviews for the crew.

And, to be honest, I'd completely forgotten we had, as the day itself was so overwhelming - that was until I received a call from lovely Ford last month while I was in Edinburgh for the Fringe.

He told me that they'd found the tapes of our interviews and had made them into a 10-minute film which he wanted to use as the half time entertainment during the live shows.

As you can imagine I was completely gobsmacked and over the Moon to have any sort of tiny role in the show, although the reality quickly hit me - these interviews were filmed seven years ago which meant I'd definitely look younger and thinner than I am now, which I'm well used to now thanks to the re-runs of The Hour every night on STVs Nightshift.

Let me tell you there's nothing more surreal than coming home at 3am after a night on the town and seeing yourself on TV looking fresh faced and wearing a dress you now sadly, two years later, can't get over your backside, while trying to bake a lemon drizzle cake in seven minutes in the cooking slot.

I'm excited to say that I'm going to see the show on Saturday night and I'm sure those of us who have tickets are in for a real treat.

I've no idea of the storyline, maybe Jack and Victor will draw up a bucket list and go on a madcap adventure to complete it, maybe Winston and Isa will get together, maybe Tam will actually buy someone a pint and maybe Boaby the Barman will finally shave off that mullet hair do?

One thing I do know for sure though is that there will be lots of laughs and plenty of topical references.

As for my little role in it all, well, I can happily tick that off my own bucket list.

It's a fantastic afternoon in memory of a great man while raising much needed funds for a great cause. Hope to see you there.

TOMORROW morning we will have our result in this referendum and I for one will respect whatever decision Scotland has made.

We've all had our own opinions over the course of this campaign but the most important thing to remember is that we are a wonderful nation who should be united.

Whatever the outcome let's respect that decision and move forward together as a nation.
