Posted by: fecker.feckerty, Glasgow on 5:48pm Sat 8 Mar 08 Nicola Sturgeon is not delivering what the people want as far as health services. At a "Save Stobhill" meetng on Monday last in Kirkintilloch, there were 200 people who strongly disagree with her decision to go ahead with the closure of Stobhill as a General Hospital. The decision was first made by Malcom Chishom as health secretary and Ms Sturgeon refuses to overturn this. The people of North Glasgow area have not been consulted or listened to. Posted by: Kinghob, Scotland on 7:58pm Sat 8 Mar 08 Would you expect Nicola Sturgeon to keep all hospitals open forever and ever-is that her job in your view? I know very little about Stobhill, but perhaps Glaswegians should bear in mind that the last Scottish Government (labour/Libdem) persued a vicious centralisation of services agenda based, as we have found out on dodgy and out-dated research-and they didn't consult the public. Bear it in mind next time there is an election. Labour thought they just needed to shave and turn up to win elections in Scotland, and that was why they believed that they could run roughshod over public opinion and do what they liked. They removed General Surgery and Orthopaedic Trauma from Livingston West Lothian to the new PFI Royal in Edinburgh with no public consultation whatsoever, and West Lothian happens to be the fastest growing population in Scotland! The very first target for their now ridiculed centralisation policy, and yet the Daily Record and the Scottish media were still telling us to vote for them! Nicola Sturgeon clearly isn't following that tact, and neither is the Scottish government, so just take note of what happens in parliament, look at who talks sense and who talks a load of rubbish, and vote accordingly and then you'll get people who put the interests of the inhabitants of Scotland first and foremost. One day, when they get their act together, an appalling and disastrous display for 9 months in opposition) even Labour might actually begin to think Scotland first and defending the Westminster gravy train will be a thing of the past. Don't expect that to happen anytime soon though. Posted by: The Missing City, Glasgow on 2:20pm Tue 11 Mar 08 Are people deliberately crazy?
Last year she (Nicola) said she could not overturn this decision as the work for the new hospitals was well under way as it was under Andy kerr and the botched up New Labour, this is what you voted Labour for, the SNP can hardly go and waste money by reversing the situation AND THEN to be forever damned by the people for doing so! Honestly, some people are just plain stupid! |
