IT is ironic to read that sorting
out disabled parking is bosses' solution to making Braehead Centre truly inclusive as
a shopping complex (March 24).
The centre is not inclusive now and won't be even after the war on blue badge abuse.
Braehead has a parking problem and there are traffic jams simply because planners did not properly think
through about getting
thousands of people to and from such a location efficiently.
They focused instead on building a full-bore motorway link and putting all that extra traffic on to already strained river crossings at the Kingston Bridge, the Erskine Bridge and the Clyde Tunnel
A truly inclusive Braehead site would not have ignored the fact the bulk of their
shoppers could be just
a two-minute journey away by using a ferry across the Clyde.

It would not have ignored those who don't or can't drive - through disability or age - and instead have opened a
station on the railway that
still exists directly behind the Ikea store.

Pay lure over rubbish
GLASGOW is a rubbish tip and it all seems to be down to two factors.
The first is the inability,
or more likely the laziness, of people, including children, to properly dispose of their litter and other rubbish in the bins provided.
The second is the obvious reluctance of cleansing
workers to do a full day's work for a full day's pay.
I think it would be a good idea to reintroduce the
tonnage system to help the public see cleansing staff are doing their job properly.
This would mean they would get paid only for work they do. It would weed out the slackers and reward the hard-working.

Tighten up soft jails
INMATES who go on the run from an open prison should not be allowed to return to soft-option jails. The public wants prisoners in prison, not second-class hotels.
And the Home Detention Curfews, which allow more and more prisoners to get out earlier, is just not on. We have to crack down on runaway prisoners.

SHERIFF Robert Anthony should be awarded the John Smeaton Medal For Bravery for declaring ex-detective
Sam Wilson "Not Guilty" of the crime of defending his property from a bunch of feral children.
These kids are described
as being "bored" and most likely come from households suffering the same affliction.
So maybe when future
culprits are caught and
damage assessed these
parents should cover the cost.
I believe we now have a
collection of tribes/clans and most of the blame is due to 60 plus years of the welfare state.

Pride in a fundraiser
I AM a biker of many years from the West End of Glasgow.
I am a professional person and not some reprobate who terrorises old ladies.
We step out on a Sunday and do a good deed for the poor kids suffering in all manners. Our day out
has again raised thousands of pounds for Yorkhill, as well as putting a smile on many a kid's
face.
