GLASGOW'S Licensing Board is getting more things wrong than right in its efforts to control the sale of alcohol in the city.
This time it has called it wrong over personal licence holders and, though it claims otherwise, the judge awarded costs against it so he obviously disagreed.
Previously, the board had to amend an attempt to ban the use of all glass in pubs and again had to pay most of the legal costs.
It also prevented our readers from enjoying a single, free pint of Guinness claiming it could encourage irresponsible drinking.
Reader Poll Should a pub licence holder always need to be on the premises?
Yes 31.3% | | No 67.2% | | Don't know 1.6% | |

We will always support campaigns against alcohol abuse but unless the board stops its knee-jerk policies, time should be called on its members.
Paying the price for a cleaner city
litter - P7
IT'S going to be costly to set up a hit squad to target businesses which are ignoring attempts to clean up the city.
But the number of them hit by fines shows too many are only paying lip service to the Clean Glasgow campaign so the money will be well spent.
It's equally important that they're given advice on waste management, recycling and refuse disposal.
That way they have no excuse and those who continue to flout the law should face incremental fines.
They have to learn that a clean city is more attractive and, therefore, better for business.
