Posted by: GAW, Glasgow UK on 3:41pm Tue 26 Aug 08 As for being grateful to accept the 2.5% offered, that is not a pay rise, but a pay cut. The same goes for the reader who says we should be grateful we are not in the private sector. We do not get Christmas, monthly or annual bonuses, have very little motivation to do our jobs with enthusiasm and get no thanks from management or the public if we have done well. So to all those who think the private sector are hard done to, just remember that when you have your all-expenses paid Christmas night out and big fat bonuses. HARD WORKING COUNCIL STAFF Glasgow --------- I simply must reply to this letter from "Planet Council". - a 2.5 % pay rise is NOT a pay cut, despite whatever skewed socialist logic has been applied. The amount of the rise is similar to what the private sector have been getting lately. - I do not know anyone in the private sector who gets monthly bonuses (?). A minority of people might get an annual bonus. Get your facts right. - Yopu have as much motiovation to do your job properly as anyone else does. Its just the fact you are lazy. Why should you get thanks from the public? - we PAY you to do the jobs you do in such a shoddy fashion. - "all expenses paid christmas night out" - again, pure fantasy material from Council Land. Where do you get this stuff from? - "hardworking council staff" - are we supposed to believe that, only seconds after you told us you have no motivation? Thank you for printing that ET - it will show the public the huge chasm in mentality between those who do a hard days work each day, and the dreamers/fantasists who inhabit "council land". Now if you will excuse me, I am off to collect my huge hourly bonus, before going home in my company funded private limosine. Posted by: Asturias, Glasgow on 3:53pm Tue 26 Aug 08 Gala day thanks
Queens Cross Housing Association held its annual Gala Day on Saturday at the Firhill sports complex. As chairwoman of the Garscube Community Foundation, sponsors of the day, I would like to thank everyone who made it such a great occasion. This includes the local businesses and contractors who donated prizes, all the groups who provided entertainment during the day, Lord Provost Bob Winter, and River City actress Libby McArthur, who opened the show, and the residents who came and supported us. Housing associations do not just put up houses, they build and support real community values. BRIDGET McGEECHAN Chairwoman, Garscube Community Foundation I am so glad I was not at that "event". In fact I would rather cut my throat than be at something like that. However I can see some potential utility here: Why not force the neds to attend similar Gala Day non events as a punishment.New powers should be given to the courts. |
