The Welsh Government has already legislated on an opt out system and it makes perfect sense to hear their experience, why they changed the law and how it will be put into practice.
Before the latest meeting to consider the campaign, we urged the MSPs not to close the petition and instead continue to allow further opportunities for the Scottish Government to be persuaded of the merits of opt out.
The MSPs on the committee, like a majority within the parliament, have expressed their support for the aims of the petition as have some government ministers.
The campaign has overwhelming support from politics and medical groups and allowing the government in Wales to add their voice to the growing calls for action will enhance the chances of Scotland following their example.
Lives can be saved from this simple switch and hundreds of families every year can be spared the agony of waiting for a donor to be found.
The Scottish Government wants to increase the number of available donors too and is not yet closed to the idea of opt out.
The campaign will continue.
