Those with long-service awards may have seen their job titles changed officially over the years to something dull, but one thing remains the same.
Their commitment to the job and to looking after others is still the same as it was on the day they started.
Many of the Cordia staff who received their long-service medals started as part-time or inbetween workers, but a quarter of a century later they are still out there looking after the young and old in our communities.
In many cases, as with the home carers looking after elderly people, they are the ones most in touch with that person in their own home and become friend as well as staff.
And what child doesn't look forward to be escorted safely across the road by the school crossing patroller, stopping the traffic with nothing more than the power of a lollipop?
They are the unsung heroes in our communties, doing vital jobs every day that we take for granted - but without them we would quickly notice the difference.
So well done to this year's 63 award recipients with their 1575 years of experience behind them. We look forward to Glasgow enjoying the benefits of many more years' service from Cordia staff.
