ONCE again the eyes of the world fell on Glasgow in the wake of the referendum result and they saw two very different side of the city.

On Friday night we witnessed a minority of morons causing mayhem in and around George Square, embarrassing themselves and using the result as an excuse for violence.

Since then however, the generosity and goodwill of the people of the city has reclaimed the square and the impromptu collection for foodbanks in the city shows Glasgow at its best.

George Square was the scene of much of the celebrations of the Commonwealth Games and people all over the world have fond memories of the place as a result.

We mustn't let the scenes from Friday night tarnish the image of the city as the people involved in the violence are representative only of themselves, not of the city and not of the people who voted no in the referendum.

The donations to the foodbank and the welcome given during the Commonwealth Games is the true spirit of Glasgow and we should not allow that to be diminished by the actions of a few.
