THE unsung heroes from across Glasgow were honoured last night as this year's Community Champions were named.

Once again we paid tribute to those working, volunteering and helping to make Glasgow a better place to live and work.

Some have been active in their communities for a long time like Senior Award winner, Greta Riddell, others have only begun their quest for a better city like Young Award winner, James Fraser.

In groups and as individuals every one deserved their award having been chosen from the very deserving field of local winners from across the city, throughout the year.

Next year is a big one for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, fundraising to move to their new home and they picked up the Lord Provost's Award.

Together with our partners in the Community Champion awards, Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Housing Association, Police Scotland Scottish Fire and Rescue and Glasgow Community Planning Partnership we want to thank every finalist and every nominee for the work they carry out for the city.

And we want to give a big congratulations and thank you to the winners in our ten categories.
