GLASGOW'S long association with offering Malawi aid and assistance has just got a little bit deeper.
The ongoing Malawi Leaders of Learning project is working with seven schools - and the benefits are two-way.
The city funds projects and offers practical assistance and expertise to help current and future education leaders in the African country provide better schooling.
Glasgow has benefited, too, with teachers and young people from Malawi coming here to speak to the city's pupils and increasing their understanding of their home country and its challenges.
While important in its own right, as it is the starting point for any project, donating money is only a part of the aid effort required to assist communities in places such as Malawi grow and allow people to solve their own problems.
The Malawi Leaders in Learning is helping do just that and it is heartening to see cash and professional knowledge from Glasgow is being put to such good use.
Hopefully one day it will not be needed, but until that day, whenever it may be, Glasgow can be relied upon to help.
