THROUGHOUT the year, all over the city, we have been privileged to meet and honour wonderful people working to make Glasgow a better place for everyone.
Our city-wide Community Champion award winners stood out among a field of fantastic people who showed great dedication across a range of fields.
Community Champion awards are for those who, over a period of time, on one project or many, devote much of their life to helping others.
This year it was right also to recognise a single event which saw many people display bravery and courage, when called on, some in the line of duty others as citizens helping their own.
The Clutha disaster will long be remembered around the UK for the tragedy it brought. But it will also be remembered for the reaction of the emergency services and the people of Glasgow.
All our champions are thoroughly deserving of their awards and with our partners Scottish Fire and Rescue, Police Scotland, Glasgow Housing Association, Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Community Planning Partnership, we thank you for all your hard work and dedication.
