The extensive organisation, planning and construction work is almost complete and people can start to think about the action and the reality of hosting such momentous event.

Part of the tradition and anticipation of the action is the Queen's Baton Relay which has been making its way all around the Commonwealth greeted by thousands of people.

When it comes home to Glasgow there will be the opportunity for as many people as possible to get a glimpse as it tours the city.

The Games are for all the people and the baton relay give everyone an opportunity to be apart of the historic event.

As it tours the streets and parks of the city the excitement will be tangible before it finds its way to the opening ceremony and the journey from the announcement Glasgow was the host city in Singapore in 2007 is complete.

The countdown is nearing its final stages and it is only months to go and soon it will be weeks then days as Glasgow 2014 and the 20th Commonwealth Games begin.

It is the first time Glasgow has hosted this or any other event of its scale and the city is on track to make it the best ever.
