OVER the last week the focus of remembrance has been on those who gave their lives during war, and rightly so.

We should never forget.

Also, however, we have a duty to consider the plight of those in today's services, who return from conflict injured looking for a way to rebuild their lives and provide for their families.

It can be difficult enough for many servicemen and women when they leave the forces and try to adjust to civilian life with the problems of finding work and keeping a job when they have been used to the life of a soldier.

For those who have a lasting injury or disability it can be even more difficult, as they have rehabilitation to go through and then may only be suitable for certain types of work.

Which is why the work of the Helping Heroes charity is vitally important and the support it gets from City Building and GHA, among others, is crucial for its continued good work.

Many of these men and women have endured horrific injuries and deserve all the support we can provide to allow them to have a normal life like everyone else.
