The sight and sound of the bands in the days leading up to the big weekend event brightened up the city as they entertained shoppers and workers in the streets, parks and open spaces.
The bands came from all over the world, as far afield as North America and eastern Australia, and as always, Glasgow gave them the expected warm welcome.
The championships are a great economic boost for the city with hotel rooms taken up, and significant cash spent in the leisure, retail and hospitality industries.
The weekend also saw the second of three outdoor concerts in Bellahouston Park catering for rock, dance and hip- hop fans, bring visitors from all around the country.
The importance of these events and the many others the city stages round the year cannot be underestimated, helping businesses to survive and grow, and most importantly keep people in jobs.
To all the competitors and their supporters who came to Glasgow for the World Pipe Band Championships thank you. It is always a pleasure for the city to host the event and we hope you had a wonderful time. Haste ye back.
