DECISION time on the campaign to change the law on organ donation to save lives is looming closer.
Tomorrow marks the closing date for submissions to the consultation on Anne McTaggart's Member's Bill to be presented to the Scottish Parliament.
There have been many milestones along the way during the campaign, each one gathering more support among the public, charities, health professionals and politicians to move to an opt out system to increase the number of organs available for donation.
It is accepted safeguards are in place to ensure people's wishes are adhered to and families consulted.
It is accepted that it will increase the availability of organs and will result in fewer people dying while on a waiting list for a suitable donor.
The next step is the Bill goes to Holyrood, where a majority have expressed support either through the Evening Times' petition or backed a motion by Humza Yousaf.
The opportunity of a lifetime is coming for Parliament to pass a law that will ensure more people have a longer and fuller life.
We trust it will be taken.
