We all know these words. Sometimes we say them so often we forget their meaning.
But last night we celebrated some of the most deserving people and organisations in this great city.
These were our latest Community Champions.
They couldn't all get an award. But - yes - every one was a winner.
There are certain causes that always get good PR. Save cute babies and you are guaranteed publicity. Rightly so.
But what if you try and rescue teenage boys - the kind of lads you many of us would fear if we met on a dark night?
Youthpoint Glasgow, part of the Aberlour charity, does outreach work with some of our most troubled and troubling youngsters.
We all have sympathy with toddlers that go hungry or are abused. But what happens when these same children are older? Who picks up the pieces and helps young people on the edge of offending.
That is where Youthpoint come in, engaging with some of our most vulnerable fellow citizens.
This is work that too often goes unrecognised.
Our truly inspiring Community Champions and nominees fix issues most of the rest of us don't want to think about.
They all deserve our thanks.
