GOOD to see that visitor numbers are up for some of the city's top attractions including Kelvingrove Art Gallery which I am not surprised tops the Glasgow entries with 1,121,995.

On Sunday I watched proudly as the fantastic museum was home to an episode of the Antiques Roadshow. The programme showed the venue in all its glory and reminded me once again what an amazing collection it houses.

We should be very proud to have it on our doorstep.

JIM Murphy has been sending frightening letters to pensioners, claiming that a vote for the SNP will result in a cut in their state pensions of £18 pounds a week.

These threats are meant to create fear in the run up to the forthcoming General Election. This ploy sounds like a desperate move on the part of Mr Murphy and the Labour Party. I, and others like me, would prefer him to stick to the facts, rather than make scaremongering statements.

THROUGHOUT the referendum campaign, Yes supporters waved huge Saltires at their every rally, as if the Scottish flag was some nationalist banner. SNP election leaflets picture green House of Commons benches turned tartan, as if non-nationalist Scottish MPs are insufficiently Scottish.

And Nicola Sturgeon keeps telling us "Scotland's voice" will be heard if we vote SNP, as if the whole of Scotland sang from the same hymn sheet. The SNP are great at this sort of propaganda and the hijacking of our national symbols -- it's just a pity they're not quite so good at supporting Scotland's schools and hospitals.

THANKS to Evening Times and the Pavilion Theatre for providing both my wife and oldest daughter with a super night out after I won two tickets for "52 Shades Of Maggie."

FOLLOWING on from the news that the Nelson Mandela bus gate has netted the city council more money, why do parking metres still take your money when after 6pm and at weekends when it's free. The machine should reject your money or the machine should switch itself off. But just shows you that Glasgow City council are cash cows.
