REGARDS JK Rowling hitting out at claims that there is no longer any anti-English sentiment in the SNP, it's people like her that make the divide by saying such things as some people believe everything they read.

JK needs to shut up and stop encouraging such hatred between nations. We're not anti-English, we're anti-Westminster.

I LIVED in Southampton for almost 15 years - not once did I experience any anti Scottish comments or behaviour towards me.

However, I unfortunately have heard regular anti-English comments and views from my Scottish counterparts.

I have returned to Scotland and been back for about three years - worst move I ever made. Whenever I finish my studies I will be moving back down south to get away from all anger and aggression. Sadly, I absolutely agree with Ms Rowling, the Scottish are the ones with a major chip on their shoulders.

AFTER reading last night's article on road accident statistics, I feel it necessary to point out the obvious.

While drivers, riders, pedestrians and all others would wish to see steady reductions in the figures, road users cannot do the impossible.

During driving, riding and even walking on roads and pavements, users spend more time than ever checking the surfaces for potholes/fractures/sunken manholes/road debris/loose or uneven slabs.

Road surfaces in particular can divert a driver's attention meaning a slower reaction to risks to them or others.

Also, after seeing danger they then have to be able to halt their vehicle on an atrocious surface such as on the Barrhead Road (Eastbound) from Silverburn Roundabout to Pollokshaws Roundabout, the carriageway is in such a bad state that carrying out an emergency stop if it was needed would probably cause more problems than it solved. Many other roads are similar.

All the agencies with an involvement should maybe start to look at the bigger picture relating to cause and effect.

I SEE the Council Leader is vying for a position in main stream Politics. I hope he gets one as he will then be unable to force his ruthless cuts on social work and services to the elderly and vulnerable. He has cut service to the bone while smugly patting himself on the back. I and many others would vote for him to get a Labour post where he can do less harm.
