Inspirational duo

I HAVE to congratulate Denis Curran and his wife Cathy for all the work they have done with the wonderful Loaves and Fishes charity.

To think their efforts have fed hundreds of people who would otherwise go hungry.

You wonder what would happen to the hungry and homeless people who fall through the net and are not picked up by local services, if it wasn’t for superb charities like this one.

IT’S hard to put into words the disgust I feel for the bogus callers.

Bogus who week after week prey on the elderly and vulnerable.

Yesterday it was four pensioners I read about, next week it will be some other poor victim.

These people are scum and I hope anyone with any information about them tells the police..

Bin the guns now

IS it just me or is the United States of America finally beginning to act like s modern country?

On Friday they voted through same-sex wedding legislation. The previous day the state of Alabama decided to ditch the Confederate flag flying from public buildings.

The slaughter of a black pastor and eight of his flock by a racist in another southern state persuaded them that a flag celebrating the old values of the formerly slave-owning south was inappropriate.

But no. The Americans haven’t come of age. While the flag may no longer fly, the bullets will still be fired by the gun-loving lunatics who use their Constitution to justify the weapons which leave a trail of destruction across their nation every day.

Seems they’d rather protect their ridiculous notion of civil rights far more than the right of those many victims to a right of life

Don’t move problem

IT’S sickening to think that schoolchildren are being caught carrying weapons in school.

However, I wonder what happens to those who are caught. I’m guessing some are expelled.

But what happens next. I suspect all that happens for most of them is that they are given a rap on the hands and soon find themselves in a different school to terrorise a different bunch of pupils.

Moving a problem isn’t quite the same as fixing one.

Knock-on effect

I SEE the parking charges are rising at the Hydro.

I can see this having a knock-on effect for the surrounding areas. Good luck to people finding a parking space as most areas nearby now have double yellow lines.
