I am deeply concerned about the situation at Cordia following the changes to staff shift patterns (Evening Times, July 2).

It seems like the service is in crisis and I fear for the very vulnerable people who depend on it.

Surely it is time for someone to step in and sort this mess out.

New runway is bad news for Heathrow neighbours

With regards to the story in the Evening Times, July 2, about how the new runway at Heathrow, I don't think the inhabitants of Sipson and Harmondsworth will share your delight.

Actually, I'm surprised by this decision - not only will these two villages be affected, but there are several international hotels the length of Bath Road and the Colnbrook Bypass that would find themselves positioned "airside".

As well as this there are loads of freight forwarders and logistics companies, the new police station behind the site of the old Technicolor building, and the Immigration Detention Centre and BA's head office being right under the flight path of the new runway.

The costs involved in building this new runway will make the Edinburgh Tram project and the Scottish Parliament building's massive overspend look like loose change down the back of your settee.

And let's guess where the money will be coming from to fund this new runway? Anyone for massive tax rises?

Clare's Law welcomed

Plans to roll "Claire's Law" out in Scotland have to be commended.

Now that people across Scotland will be able to ask the police if their partner has a history of domestic abuse there is nowhere for these offenders to hide.

Any measures to keep women safer and combat domestic abuse are to be welcomed.

Hopefully this will help prevent more women falling victim to abuse like Clare Wood who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend after being unaware of his history of violence against women.

Housing association must do better

I was disgusted to read about disabled man David Dempsie being forced to use his neighbours shower for seven months (Evening Times, July 2).

How can anyone be expected to live like this?

Thankfully Mr Dempsie now has the use of a shower after adaptations were carried out at his home by housing association NG Homes.

But this was after the Evening Times took up his fight.

NG Homes should investigate what happened here to ensure that it never happens again.
