SO all of a sudden not only has tycoon Jim McColl stepped in to help save Ferguson's shipyard, but he is now talking about building ocean-going liners.

To say it is a dramatic statement of confidence is an understatement.

It just goes to show what can be done when someone has real vision.

I think it is fantastic for the area and for Scotland. Is there is chance we could clone Mr McColl as we certainly need a few of his type to boost our economic chances.

It really is an amazing plan to build more ships on the Clyde. Who would have thought it. Oh yes someone already had centuries ago, but we let our Clyde shipbuilding fall by the wayside.

GLASGOW City Council has been voted the best local authority in UK.

I am trying to understand why it can't implement a robust and efficient system. I call to ask when items will be lifted and giving mixed up information. It can't be that hard to give residents of Glasgow the bulk uplift days and locations.

GREAT to see Tommy Steele still going strong and treading the boards at the grand age of 78.

There are not many of his generation left and he was a true song and dance man.

Would love to him back on the TV.

Good luck to you Tommy and I hope your show is a great success.

IT is hard to believe that this time last year we were getting set for the Commonwealth Games. It was one of my greatest memories in Glasgow and I think it is something everyone will remember.

I was pleased to see the Renicks sisters have a plaque installed at the Athletes Village as a lasting tribute. For years to come people will remember where they were when the Games were on - for me I enjoyed it all from the comfort of my armchair!
