IN response to the article in the Evening Times on Tuesday about the Govanhill taskforce, I am sure areas like Govan and Pollokshields, experience similar or even more problems.

Govanhill always seem to get more attention than other areas in Glasgow.

I would ask the city council to take a holistic view and not just concentrate on one area.

More to do

I think the council need to do more to clean Govanhill area up. More police are needed on the beat and despite what they say, gangs of men, regardless of where they are from, should not be hanging about street corners.

It’s intimidating to the people who live there and have to walk past them.

Then the slum landlords need to be stopped, more has to be done against them.

They either need to bring the property up to scratch or they lose their rights to rent out and make money off people.

It’s not fair on the people who live there and have lived there all their days.

Miss Old Firm matches

PAUL Lambert’s comments on the loss of Old Firm clashes (Evening Times, Thursday). As a Rangers man, me and my Celtic mates all miss it.

The Sunday breakfast, read the papers then on the beers all day win or lose!

Bus stop madness

THE bus stop built over the cycle lane (Evening Times, Thursday), the Clyde Gateway only cost £25,000,000 to develop!

The other strange thing is there are no signs to tell you the speed limit on any part of the 2.6km stretch of road. Not one at the start - as the law requires - or any repeater signs.

It’s a very hard road to classify and looks more like a dual carriageway at points so please, anyone pulled over for speeding on Clyde Gateway, contest the ticket.

It’s not worth the paper it’s written on!!

£25,000,000 and you want speed limit signs. No chance!

Fix potholes

It's the same on Barrhead road, they have made the pavement bigger and put in a cycle path that must be no more than a foot wide with a bus stop right in the middle of it.

Hardly anyone walks along that pavement so I don't understand it.

The road beside it has loads of potholes that need fixed too.
