I WENT along to see some of the football games at this years Glasgow Summer Cup, Monday's Evening Times, at KGV Parks in Renfrew. It was great to see so many talented young players, some of those aged under 17 and 19's were far better than what I see most Saturdays in the professional game.

I wonder why our scouting system never seems to bring these boys into their set up but that is a debate for another day.

A disappointment though was firstly some of the coaches on the touchline have obviously no idea on player management or how to motivate players, trust me it is not by bawling at them and secondly the performances of some of the match officials.

It is fair to say they are as inconsistent as those that turn out at professional games, I felt sorry for some young players who clearly had no idea as to why some decisions were made and neither did I.

Well done though to all of the winning teams and also to the organisers.

REGARDS the driver being given a parking ticket despite paying through the app, this happened to me at the King Street carpark on the same RingGo system.

I had a fine on my car (I had paid by phone), disputed it and got it waived. A month later I got a letter from a debt recovery company and had to go through the disputes process again. They shouldn't suggest people pay by the app/phone if they don't have the technology to check it properly.

I WAS left speechless at the weekend when I slowed at a set of traffic lights as funnily enough they were at red.

Next thing I know a bus has gone straight through the set of lights.

How does this happen? Next time I see a sign about 'how was this vehicle driven' I will be getting in touch. People's lives could be put at risk with this kind of action.

I COULDN'T fail to hear the sound of the pipes in Glasgow this week.

With Piping Live! on and the World Pipe Band Championships being held at the end of the week, the city is once again taking centre stage.

While it might not be to everyone's taste, you cannot argue with the popularity of the pipes and how much business it brings to the city.
