I NEEDED to be in Hamilton on Sunday on a mission of mercy to the SSPCA Centre.

Travelling from Cumbernauld I thought the simplest and most straightforward route would be to travel to take the off ramp at the Raith Interchange.

Oh what a mistake.

THIRTY minutes after joining the queuing traffic I finally made it round the roundabout and within minutes was at the centre.

What I wonder was anyone thinking when they decided to create what must the biggest man made hole in the ground in Scotland, an apocalyptic landscape and a plethora of road signs pointing every which way.

It was a nightmare and one I was told could have been avoided by heading to Hamilton via Motherwell.

If only one of the road signs had said that.

Retail wanted

IN relation to the story about the new flats planned for Scotway House in Castlebank Street (Evening Times, Tuesday) it’s nice to see something potentially being done with that run-down building but why does everything being built in the West End have to revolve around students?

Remember years ago, they talked about trying to get a Tesco/some additional retail into South Street?

I’d much rather see something like that happen.

Flats for more

THIS is silly.

We’ve been hearing more about students flats, it’s like a disease and spreading.

When can we get some flats built for single people who still live with parents, homes for families and workers?

Museum plan

BETTER than decaying but we don’t need MORE students in Partick.

Why could it not have become an extension to Riverside Museum to display the ship models?

Unacceptable attacks

In relation to the story about attacks on NHS workers (Evening Times, yesterday), can unions not change the record and stop the repetitive mantra of "cuts".

Before you blame the big bad Tories yet again, NHS Scotland is a devolved responsibility.

No surprise that the worst incidences are in psychiatric establishments, that is down to their very nature. However in normal establishments it is completely unacceptable. The NHS and its medical staff should get tough about this. Anyone violent or even abusive should be refused to be dealt with by individual staff members. Violent offenders should be prosecuted. I know staff are unlikely to do this, citing their "calling", but it is the only way to (1) protect themselves and (2) to rid our hospitals of these cretinous vermin.
