I AM appalled that some people think it would be disrespectful for Jeremy Corbyn to wear a white poppy on Armistice Day.

The men who gave their lives in World War I, did so thinking it would be the war to end all wars.

They died horrendous deaths under deplorable conditions thinking they were going to bring peace to the world.

In 1933 when it began to look like there was going to be another war the wife's sister's and sweetheart's of the men who died started the white poppy moment to try and ensure the sacrifice was not in vain.

The red poppy was brought into being to remember the blood shed by the men who died on Flanders Field.

However, it was usurped to raise monies for the Earl Haig Fund, and in even more resent years to raise money for our 'heroes.'

If the Government wants to make our 'heroes charity cases they should do it at some other time and by some other means .

So I am pleading with Jeremy Corbyn not to sell his soul, and to wear his white poppy, even a red as well if he can get one which is made to commemorate the men who died to bring peace to the world. I beg everyone everywhere to support him.

I AM not against offering help to anyone in our world, what I am against is not putting the people of Scotland first.

We have residents young and old living in poverty, using foodbanks, using charity shops due to the money that they are forced to live on. I'm not talking about people on benefits, I'm talking about people working long hours to provide for their families.

We also have an obvious lack of appropriate Social Housing available.

Please Politicians, HELP the Residents of this country first before offering help to others.

PAT McDaid, Glasgow, Evening Times letters, is totally correct, we are sick of the second rate service provided by highly paid BBV tv top brass in Scotland.

They don't stand up for their own region and licence payers.

We need to start a boycott otherwise we will continually get a third world coverage of football.
