I AM a hospital staff member and personally use public transport. However this is not ideal. It is quoted that 90 buses an hour go through the hospital. We work shifts and as an example, I work 12 hour shifts and live in Paisley.
I used to be able to get the one bus to and from work but since the opening of the new hospital I now have to get two buses making my 12 hour shifts a much more longer day.
On public holidays McGills run a Sunday service which means for me personally the first bus in the morning is too late I therefore have to get a 38 bus along Paisley Road West get off the bottom of Berryknowes Road and walk to the hospital.
On a Sunday morning the first to Paisley is 10am no use when the shifts finish at 7.30 and 8.15am. Again I have to walk from the hospital to Paisley Road West to get a bus.
I have brought up these points with McGills who instructed me that they are not a charitable or taxi service. Yet we are expected to use public transport.

Drive way parking charges - It would be great to get the names and addresses of these money grabbing greedy people and report them to the council and make sure that, as a commercial car parking business that domestic rates do not apply to their premises and that they need to pay commercial rates.
Further, as they are running a business from the address, their domestic insurance policies will be invalid.
Further, the income they receive from the fees they are levying are taxable. Remember, the taxman still has a sore head about a certain tax case involving a Govan/Ibrox location

I HAVE every sympathy for the staff at the new hospital and the parking issue. They work crazy shifts and do an amazing job. If I lived near enough they could park in my driveway for free.

Train driver jobs boost - This move will hopefully dispense with the daily intimations on ScotRail's website of services being cancelled or curtailed: "Due to a shortage of train crew" - which is more accurate than "Due to a member of train crew being unavailable."
