I was bemused to read in Saturday's Evening Times (September 19) that City Cops are using a high-tech tracing device to apprehend crooks who are stealing phones, cars etc.

I would dearly love to know how Police intend tackling the other acts of blatant vandalism being carried out and ignored, like the bus shelters around Dougrie Road/Castlemilk Drive area which are are smashed every couple of weeks.

We have a police station on Dougrie Road which doesn't seem fit for purpose. It is just a 'white elephant' which closes at 5pm with no sign of any officers pounding the beat, making their presence visible to the vandals who are destroying these shelters.

All it has bought to our road is the ridiculous amount of cars belonging to the staff who park outside the station on the road or pavement, which is another accident waiting to happen, rendering this section of road, impossible to cross.

What is also so unbelievable is the fact that this station is only meters away from two of these shelters which are regularly smashed to pieces.

Surely community police should be more active in their input to ending the appalling waste of money squandered by replacing these shelters every few weeks. What happened to cops "pounding the beat" instead of relying on technology when trying to solve crimes anyway?

With regard to people being unaware of city centre bus lanes: they're clearly sign posted as well as having big white paint on the road.

If you cant see the signs or see the road markings you shouldn't be driving.

A serious situation when pupils are unable to get into classes John Paul Academy in the morning causing problems for the teachers and also unable to get home in the afternoon.

I wonder if they have considered the train which goes from Summerston to Balmore Road?

I hope this gets sorted as no children should be asked to put up with this.I was amazed that pupils from Milton and Possil went to this school as there used to be big secondary schools serving these areas

The response from the council spokesperson regarding children trying to get to John Paul Academy in Summerston is astonishing.

They removed the school bus service without giving a thought to the kids safety. My goodness, this council has completely lost touch with its people or perhaps they simply couldn't care less about the people from Milton and Possil Park?

Do they respond more attentively to the wishes and complaints of the affluent members of Glasgow's population? As for privately run public transport...it simply doesn't work.

Re-wind de-regulation and nationalise.
