Simple answer to city centre congestion - stop duplication of bus routes. Buses going from point A to point B via the city centre are generally pretty empty because of this duplication, added to the frequency of the services.

Also, do we honestly need First bus, McGills, and Stagecoach all competing on the same routes?

The poor motorist gets to shoulder the blame for traffic congestion, when it should be the council that takes this burden. It is they who grant permission for these bus routes.

Furthermore, surely they could integrate public transport services in a similar way to how London operates its Oyster Card scheme?

It is most urgent that Glasgow City Council do take on board that we do need to have a good first class tram/light-rail system introduced in Glasgow serving Newton Mearns and also Clarkston.

The tram line which would go up to Newton Mearns would go via Shawlands while the other line serving Clarkston would go via Victoria Road, Battlefield Road, Clarkston Road up to Clarkston.

It is a must that we do have trams reintroduced back in Glasgow just as they have in Manchester. It is stupid not to have trams back.

This will cut down on too much other road traffic and the far too many buses blocking our city centre streets.

So, it is a must to start the work now to reintroduce the trams we urgently need. It is about time we have trams back.

Charging £700 per year for a business parking permit, more highly priced parking meters and now a 20mph speed limit. This is about chasing drivers (thus shoppers) away from the city.

Just wait for the tumbleweed to roll down the streets before this bunch of numpties realised they killed the best retail city!

Frank McAveety should start his tenure as Leader of the Council by initiating a much-needed clean up of the city.

Maintenance of the streets and pavements appears to be non existent with parts of the city resembling a jungle with weeds sprouting everywhere.

Driving into the city from East Renfrewshire the difference from entering from the east and north was stark.

The Townhead/Springburn area in particular is in a dreadful state and you wonder what the thoughts of first time visitors must be.

I can never understand why buildings like this, Pollok House, are allowed to deteriorate until a massive repair bill in needed. Why hasn't routine maintenance been carried out over a period of time?
