Regarding the story bus drivers bypassing Fastlink bus lanes (Evening Times, October 2): That roundabout at Elder Park/Drive Road/Govan Road is shambolic.

Traffic leaving Drive Road wishing to travel towards the shipyard/Govan Cross meets a red light.

This blocks all traffic on the roundabout.

Why would there ever need to be a bus lane through the middle of this roundabout when any vehicle is actually quicker just going around it?

Young epilepsy sufferer is an inspiration

It was heartwarming to read the story of epilepsy sufferer Callum Wilson from East Kilbride and his family who are using their difficult experience to transform the lives of others.

Young Callum's family were pleased to discover a device - a vagus nerve stimulator - which dramatically changed his life by reducing the amount of seizures he suffered from.

Mum Colleen wants to raise awareness of the available treatments for epilepsy in bid to help out young people and families who are struggling to cope.

This must be congratulated. I hope that the family can use their experiences to give hope to others.

Glasgow to welcome refugees

I am happy to hear that Glasgow is set to give a safe home to 63 refugees fleeing violence in the Middle East (Evening Times, October 2).

These people have faced unimaginable horrors.

The people of Glasgow, known for their ability to rally round in times of need, have already shown their support for refugees with a mass rally in George Square.

I hope the families who come here are given the welcome and support they deserve.

Low cost of sending kids to school

Regarding the story "Pupils from poverty-stricken families face significant disadvantages at school" - stores such as Tesco sell school shirts and trousers for as little as £3, and as the article states these people receive clothing grants.

These children also receive free breakfast club and school meals - currently £1.70 per day for those who pay.

As far as travel costs go well at less than two miles it takes around 25 minutes to walk and is healthy, although we all know from taking children to school the majority of these parents will be able to afford and run cars.
