GOOD to see the Evening Times calendar back on sale.

I live in Australia and I always get my family to send me a copy at Christmas.

For us ex-pats it is a reminder of home in days gone past.

I am sure if I was to walk down Sauchiehall Street today I would see quite a difference as it is a number of years since I have been home.

Thanks Evening Times for bringing a little taste of Glasgow to my corner of the world.

I WAS appalled to read that an 87-year-old woman had been targeted by a mugger in the South Side on Monday (Evening Times, Wednesday).

How low can you go?

To target such an elderly, vulnerable woman – presumably out on her own – is absolutely disgraceful.

How would the mugger feel if it was his grandmother or mother who was attacked in such a despicable manner?

There is never any excuse for crime and ones that target such vulnerable victims are the worst imaginable.

I hope the police find the mugger as soon as possible and get people like this off our streets before he targets any more “easy” victims.

I WANTED to write to congratulate the hard-working staff who run the Govan H.E.L.P project on their lottery windfall.

While I’ve not used the project myself, I’m aware of the good name it has in the area.

Without charities like that, it is likely that families in need of support for issues such as unemployment and poor housing would wait weeks for help from the authorities.

The range of free services they offer is incredible, given that there are only four members of staff.

I only wish, every area of the city had a similar project. Keep up the good work!

IAIN Duncan Smith says there is no link between sanctions and suicide

If someone elects not to see the truth then nothing will change their mind. This man has decided he is right and everyone else is wrong. Under our political system he and his party have been given the power to punish the poor for a full five year term. Their cynical anti Scottish campaign was rewarded by our "friends" in the south many of whom I am sure now regret their choice.
